To The Neo-Nazi Spamming Caitlin Johnstone's Comment Pages
I’ve been reading Caitlin Johnstone’s op-eds and reporting for well over a decade. We do not always agree. However, I’m sufficiently familiar with her work to be assured that she isn’t a Jew-hater (“antisemite” is such a vapid euphemism.) She’s an anti-Zionist- as are, these days, a great many Jews themselves, according to some measures of public opinio…
I’ve since dropped Caitlin Johnstone from my reading list- for no other reason than the shrillness of her rhetoric, especially in her headlines. I still read her sometimes. It’s hard to get past some of her simplistic ideological and geopolitical views, but it’s worth it, because Caitlin is a good researcher, a good reporter, and a good writer. If only she’d cool it on devices like “negative superlatives”. If she knew more history, I suspect it would sober her up some. Not that she doesn’t know more than most people, but that bar is too low. And it’s self-marginalizing to indulge in overcooked rhetoric. STAY ON THE STORY. When Caitlin follows that track, she’s formidable. Not infallible, but formidable.
