I've been reading Ian Welsh and his contributors extensively, and...I don't know how to say this...the guy is concentrating on a factual view of history, rather than a mythological or ideological one. His conclusions track very closely with my own--but to me the important thing is the way he's done it, by building an evidence-based case for his views that draws on a wide range of disciplines. https://www.ianwelsh.net/
