I've long been an advocate for cannabis legalization, which would present a lot less of a problem if the venture capital profiteers hadn't shown up. Selfish assholes with dollar signs in their eyes, practically to a person. (Greed needs to be commonly recognized as a psychic illness, potentially curable with diligent effort. But the first step is to realize that you have a problem.)
My one-page cannabis legalization preference:
Household cultivation permitted, with a maximum of ten mature female plants, and nonprofit transfer of up to one lb. permitted. (That's a ballpark. The exact amount is negotiable.)
No indoor growing operations of any sort larger than 100 sq. ft. THC concentrations limited to 12% without a medical prescription.
No outdoor growing operations larger than one acre. (It's practically impossible to grow pot with over 10% THC without industrial hydroponics and growlights.)
No retail sales without listing the complete cannabinoid profile of all products.
Shatter hash is banned from retail sale. It's toxic and hazardous to manufacture, and has more harm potential than good, as a commercial product. I'm seriously wary of ultra-high THC concentrations, which accomplish nothing positive in terms of additional efficacy, while introducing a potential for harm that was formerly practically unheard of.
I'm on the fence about edibles. They provide for uniform dosing, but sweetened gummies encourage overdosing, and they're an attractive nuisance for small children (and arguably for adults, too.) I like edible confections and candies. I'd give them up as a retail product (and make my own, duh.) In my years as a foot soldier in the legalization movement, I never anticipated a market for anything other than the cured flower tops. I'd prefer no commercial market at all; grow it yourself if you like it, and if a friendly neighbor wants some weed, give them a handful. Mid-grade soil grown pot really is pretty harmless under normal set and setting conditions, like not being made a social pariah chased by cops and obligated to associate with gun-toting antisocial personalities to keep a purchasing connection intact.
