Musical Interlude: Little Feat, "Kiss It Off"
also, Allen Toussaint and Mark Knopfler
A trio of tunes. Starting it off with “Kiss It Off”, by Little Feat. From the LP Dixie Chicken. 1973. More of the 99.9% of classic rock music that the corporate “Classic Rock” stations tossed in the trash sometime around 1979, so they could put the same 100 songs on endless repeat.

Weird thing that I just found out about this tune: every last song lyrics link I can find on the Internet gets the words wrong. https://genius.com/Little-feat-kiss-it-off-lyrics
It’s easy to hear that Lowell George sings something entirely different at the end of the first and last verse. Still wondering how the inaccuracy arose. The song only makes sense the way it’s sung on the record.
The next tune is also found on Dixie Chicken: “On Your Way Down”, by Allen Toussaint. Lowell and the band do a faithful cover, but I’m making room for the original version, from 1972.

The next song makes for a fitting segue: “5:15am”, by Mark Knopfler. 2004.

These are eloquent songs. They reward repeated listening.
[ Yes, Readers and Readerettes, I fully realize that I’ve been delinquent with publishing actual Posts on this Page. Fully and entirely. Maybe I can do something to remedy that problem, now that I’ve managed to pull myself away from the Infinite Prompt of the Notes section. Considering that I’ve pulled around 150 rough drafts out of my writing there, you would think that I could manage to shape at least one of them up into a form worth publishing before I return to the Notes Vortex. ]
